Music Empowers Participates In First Teleconference With SupportMusic Coalition

In late August, Music Empowers participated in its first teleconference with SupportMusic Coalition www.supportmusic.com, a national advocacy effort for music education. There is a lot of interesting information, but here is something we found particularly interesting:

The Partnership for 21st Century Skills www.p21.org has developed an arts skills map that defines how music and arts education promotes 21st Century skills like critical thinking, collaboration, innovation and problem solving. Visit their website and look under “Latest News” to learn more. These kinds of data are needed in the battle to keep music education programs alive.
