Music enhances the process of learning and a great music education program involves constant exposure to new and exciting opportunities. Tell us why your music education program MATTERS and that program could win a grant from the Music Empowers Foundation.

Here's how to enter:

Tell us in a 60-second video why your music education program MATTERS. Tell us what the program does, how it helps the youth in your community, or even how it has helped and shaped you.

Upload your video to YouTube (be sure to keep your settings public). Don't have a YouTube account? Learn how to set one up here. Get help uploading your video here.

Submit your video using the form below. Click "share" on YouTube to access the link to your video. All entries must be received by March 31st.

On April 7th, the top 15-20 videos will be chosen by our panel. These videos will then be posted on our Web site and open to general voting in the form of donations ($1=1 VOTE). The top 3 programs with the most votes will be awarded grants.

Voting & Contest Rules:

Explain why your music education program MATTERS; we are interested in hearing things like: what your music program does, how it helps the youth in your community, or even how it has helped and shaped you.

Videos must be approximately one minute in length; we reserve the right to disqualify videos that are significantly longer than 1 minute).

The person who officially submits the video must be 18 years of age or older and will be responsible for obtaining permission to appear in the video from all participants.

The subjects of submitted videos must be MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS; the Music Empowers Foundation does not award grants to individual artists or educators.

The top 15-20 videos, selected on the basis of the content of the message and the creativity of delivery will be featured on the Music Empowers website and on the Foundation’s Facebook.

Only the top 15-20 videos will qualify for the next stage of the contest, in which voting will be open to the general public in the form of donations. $1=1 VOTE. The top 3 programs with the most votes will receive DIRECT grants of 5%, 10%, and 20% of the TOTAL contest donations.

The Grants

The music education programs named in each of the three videos receiving the most votes will receive DIRECT grants of 5%, 10% and 20% of the TOTAL contest donations. The remainder of the total contest donations will go into the Music Empowers Foundation endowment to support other organizations outside of the contest that provide music instruction in communities where it does not exist or is underdeveloped.

Music Empowers reserves the right not to accept any videos that are longer than one minute, contain inappropriate content or do not meet the standards of the Foundation. Submitter of the video must be 18 years of age or older and must obtain permission from all participants to appear in the video. By submitting a video, you grant Music Empowers Foundation, Inc. the right to use the video on its website, Facebook page, Twitter feed and other promotional/social media vehicles deemed appropriate by the Foundation to promote Music Empowers and its mission.
